Technical Artist

Technical Artist 

Reporting to the Technical Art Director and collaborating with the Technical Director, designers, 3D artists and developers, the main responsibilities of the technical artist are to facilitate the work of artists and programmers in order to reduce production times and develop features specific to tech-art. This results in the creation of tools, processes and documentation. He must be able to create quality work that meets the demand of the project to which he is assigned. This person must also validate his work and ensure consistency between the initial concept and the various prototypes and deliverables.


  • Degree or experience in multimedia, 3D animation or visual effects (or equivalent)

  • Diploma or experience in programming.

  • Fundamental understanding of 3D art and its processes.

  • In-depth knowledge of 3D production software - 3DS Max, Maya, Substance, Blender, ZBrush etc.

  • Thorough knowledge of at least one game machine like Unity, Unreal, Cry Engine (or equivalent).

  • In-depth knowledge of C #, Python, Mel Script, Max Script, JavaScript programming languages

  • Knowledge of shader or image processing an asset

  • Development knowledge of UI, QT, WPF tools etc.

  • Have a strong ability to solve technical challenges / problems

  • Be autonomous and be a team player

  • To show initiative

  • Strong communication skills

  • Have the ability to explain / popularize.

  • Have the will to innovate

  • Ability to work according to the technical constraints of the project.

  • Interest, experience or specialty in a discipline related to tech-art

  • Advanced skills in spoken and written French

  • Working knowledge of English (spoken and written)


  • College diploma in 3D Animation or Modeling;

  • Relevant experience in 3D production (level artist, modeling, textures, technical director, etc.);

  • 5 years or more of experience in technical and artistic team management;

  • Experience in a multi-project environment

  • Knowledge of programming languages, software used for artistic production and different platforms;

  • Experience in art direction;

  • Excellent knowledge of different 2D and 3D software;

  • Excellent leadership

  • In-depth knowledge of the video game production pipeline;

  • Capacity to express and communicate concepts efficiently;

  • Oral and written bilingualism (French and English).
